The KG2 Team are really looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year ahead. The first few weeks will be spent getting to know each other and establishing class routines and essential agreements. It will be a time where we build good relationships and find out a lot of exciting things about each other.
We encourage open communication between school and home. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We are looking forward to having the opportunity to meet and talk with you over the coming weeks as we work together towards your son / daughter’s success.
Starting School
Starting school is a big, exciting step for children and parents. It is like a journey that takes time, preparation and planning. It takes time to adjust to new surroundings, different adults, new routines and expectations and for some children there will be a new language to learn. Helping to prepare your child for school can certainly ease this transition.
Some suggestion to make this transition easier:
We look forward to a fantastic year ahead with you and your child.

Helping to prepare your child for school can certainly ease this transition.
Some suggestion to make this transition easier:
- You can help your child settle into school by being positive and talking about what they might do at school. Talk about the routines, playtimes etc.
- Make sure your child feels comfortable in the school uniform. Encourage your children to dress themselves and select shoes that are easy to put on and take off so they can do this at school on their own.
- Label all your child’s belongings with first and last names and show your child where these labels have been placed.
- Show your child how to use a lunchbox, open packaged drinks and encourage practice with these.
- Listen, but do not ask too many questions about school. Children will talk when they are ready. Bedtime is usually a good listening time.
- Be flexible in the early days of school. Children will get tired and can often become grumpy or teary at the slightest thing. They need a lot of support and comfort whilst they are settling in.
- Keep to routines that allow time for rest and free play. Try not to arrange too many after school activities and commitments.
We look forward to a fantastic year ahead with you and your child.
