Here are some pictures from our transportation field trip a few weeks ago. Many thanks to all the parents who volunteered and sent me thier pictures. We had a wonderful trip!! Take a look as we travel by bus to the Gold Souk, take an abra across the creek, hop on the metro to the marina, and then take the tram to have a picnic lunch at Jumeirah Beach Residence. It was definitely a fun-filled day!
Congratulations to our Star of the Week, Izabele, for working hard to show us how principled and caring she can be!
On Wednesday, we were so lucky to have Nala's mom, Ms. Hiba Hannoush, join our class and share a little bit about her home country of Lebanon. The students watched a presentation filled with fun facts about Lebanon. We learned about the Lebanese flag, learned that there are four seasons in Lebanon, saw pictures of traditional clothes, and saw a fun video of Lebanese dancing. We even tried some traditional Lebanese bread with cheese and thyme (za'atar). It was delicious!! Thank you so much for sharing your culture with us Mrs. Hannoush; we absolutely LOVED having you visit us!! Please have a look at the photos of us learning all about Lebanon. :) Dear Parents,
Here are a few reminders for this week:
On Thursday, we were so lucky to have Antonio's mom and dad, Mrs. Catarina Doria and Mr. Ricardo Vieira, join our class and share a little bit about their home country of Portugal. The students watched a presentation filled with fun facts about Portugal. We learned that Portugal is in Europe, that they have four seasons (and lots of snow!), there are castles, you can make things out of a special kind of wood, and they LOVE football! Thank you so much for sharing your culture with us Mrs. Doria and Mr. Vieira; we absolutely LOVED having you visit us!! Please have a look at the photos of us learning all about Portugal. :) Dear Parents,
Here are some reminders for this week:
On Thursday, we were so lucky to have Izabele's mom and dad, Mrs. Ausra Adomaitiene and Mr. Saulius Adomaitis, join our class and share a little bit about their home country of Lithuania. The students watched a presentation filled with fun facts about Lithuania and had fun with some masks. We learned that Lithuania is in the center of Europe and that they all really love basketball! Izabele's mom made us some pancakes in the shape of spiderwebs which were really cool! We also tried some cookies which we wore around our necks on a string like people do at basketball games in Lithuania. Thank you so much for sharing your culture with us Mrs. Adomaitiene and Mr. Adomaitis; we absolutely LOVED having you visit us!! Please have a look at the photos of us learning all about Lithuania. :) Today, we were very lucky to have Stelios's mom, Mrs. Elena Yiasemides, join our class and share a little bit about her home country of Cyprus. The students watched a presentation filled with beautiful photos of Cyprus and learned that it is an island country with lots of really pretty beaches! The children made picture frames with seashells and tried some koyrabiedes which are Christmas butter cookies from Cyprus. They were super delicious!! Thank you so much for sharing your culture with us Mrs. Yiasemides, we absolutely LOVED having you visit us!! Please have a look at the photos of us learning all about Cyprus. :) Yesterday, we were super lucky to have Nout's mom, Mrs. Nienke Nauta-Kuipers, and Tuur's mom, Mrs. Saskia Dommisse join our class and share a little bit about their home country, the Netherlands. The students watched a presentation filled with fun facts about the Netherlands and learned how to say a few words in Dutch. Did you know that their national colour is orange, named after the royal family, the House of Orange? The children also tried poffertjes (made by Nout's mom), and learned how to play two games that kids always play at Dutch birthday parties, blikje gooien and koetje prik. You can see the kids playing blikje gooien in the pictures below. That game was definitely their favourite! Thank you so much for sharing your culture with us Mrs. Nauta-Kuipers and Mrs. Dommisse; we absolutely LOVED having you visit us!! Please have a look at the photos of us learning all about the Netherlands. :) |
