Yesterday, we were super lucky to have Nout's mom, Mrs. Nienke Nauta-Kuipers, and Tuur's mom, Mrs. Saskia Dommisse join our class and share a little bit about their home country, the Netherlands. The students watched a presentation filled with fun facts about the Netherlands and learned how to say a few words in Dutch. Did you know that their national colour is orange, named after the royal family, the House of Orange? The children also tried poffertjes (made by Nout's mom), and learned how to play two games that kids always play at Dutch birthday parties, blikje gooien and koetje prik. You can see the kids playing blikje gooien in the pictures below. That game was definitely their favourite! Thank you so much for sharing your culture with us Mrs. Nauta-Kuipers and Mrs. Dommisse; we absolutely LOVED having you visit us!! Please have a look at the photos of us learning all about the Netherlands. :)
