Field Trip Just a reminder to please check your email for the field trip permission form. This was sent out on Thursday. Permission and payment is due by Thursday September 29th (end of this week) Readers and Literacy We have been discussing IPICK and talking about choosing books that you enjoy. Today we talked about 1 of the 3 ways to read a book "Read the Pictures". We read a wordless reader as a class, and then I sat with each student so that we could practice what good reading looks like. We discussed characters, feelings and emotions and also the details in each picture. We will continue to practice this skill at school as well. Home Reading Folders Today the home reading folders were sent home with students. These will be sent home every Sunday and should be returned at the end of the week on Thursday. Inside you will find the following: Readers Information on wordless readers was sent home along with the book. This should help with some guiding questions so that the reading process is the most successful for you at home. Sight Words Students should practice these words at home. These words should be memorized by sight (most cannot be sounded out phonetically) We will also be working on this at school. The more sight words a student knows, the easier reading will be. Letter formation We will be following these rhymes at school as we learn how to properly form letters. If you plan to practice writing at home please make sure to use these rhymes and the same formation. You will also notice that we are focusing on lowercase letters (as opposed to uppercase). Seesaw We are preparing to launch seesaw in our classroom. In preparation for this I have sent home the QR code for your child's account. I will also be sending out an email with your child's code. Seesaw will be launched in the coming weeks. Assembly Tomorrow marks the first day of our EC assembly. Parents are welcome to attend. Assemblies start promptly at 8:15am.
